What it costs to Raise a Quality Puppy:
Quantity breeders:
Breed hundreds of dogs with no regard to their care.
They provide scant vet care if any at all.
Only the strong survive in a puppy mill & in puppy mill raids dead puppies are often found in the same pens with live ones. They feed poor quality feed. They euthanize adult dogs once they are no longer viable or able to breed. Their adult dogs are rarely groomed and live in filthy deplorable conditons and are never loved, played with, and their quality of life is horrendous. It's HELL for dogs in that situation! Dogs were made to be companion animals! They often ship sick puppies in less than adequate crates on inferior airlines to save money. You take a chance. You may or may not get a healthy puppy. They may or may not live up to the conditons in their own contracts. Often after purchase you cannot get these people on the phone if you need help, have concerns, or even about serious health issues.
Quality Breeders:
Provide vet care both to puppies and adults. Have you priced quality vet care?
My own vet bills per puppy (if there are NO extras and there always are) are well over $250.00 per puppy. Teacup vet care, because they stay with me from 12 to 14 weeks, is in excess of $1,500.00 (and most of them sell for this price or slightly less). Our teacups get every two hour care for at least six weeks. Could you imagine the intensity of that type of commitment and work just to come out at a loss? Quality breeders do!
Provide top quality feed. Acceptable feeds start at well over $30.00 per 40 lbs.
Provide cesarians when Mom's need them. A C-section costs in excess of $800.00 if your Mom whelps on a weekday during working hours (and this almost NEVER occurs). A C-section at an emergency clinic at night or on the weekends will cost in excess of $1,700.00 JUST TO WALK THROUGH THE DOOR. This doesn't include after care or days in the hospital. There's a seperate charge for the delivery of each puppy.
We keep our puppies indoors. That means playpens and their maintenance.
We keep our puppies immaculate. This means keeping up grooming equipment, shampoos, dishes, toys, blankets, bedding, ect. Grooming equipment alone can cost $6.00 per blade per sharpening. Add to this the time and effort spent on acclimating our puppies to the grooming table! Scissors, brushes, combs, nail clippers, medications, ect.
We ship puppies in top quality NEW crates with a toy and faux lambskin bedding.
We provide lifetime homes to our puppies. If they can't stay with you for ANY reason they are required by contract to come back to us. We provide proof of health care and are happy to provide vet and prior client references.
We are not perfect, or fail proof, but we make our absolute best effort to provide you with a healthy puppy that's been raised exclusively indoors from quality parents that are also healthy and well maintained as companion animals...NOT KENNEL DOGS. We stand behind our contract and behind our puppies. We answer the phone when you need us and face any problems head on.
As you can see there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between the way we do things and the way "they" do things. Our Prices
Our prices are based on several factors, the first being the quality of the individual puppy. My prices are set BY THE BREEDER & I have little to do with it other than advising the breeder of what I feel to be a fair price for their puppy. I feel that for what you will be getting, we have the absolute BEST PRICES available on the Internet. Why? We are very middle of the road in pricing compared to others but we exceed most by many a mile when it comes to service and credibility. Our references, both vet and prior client are EXCELLENT & our Puppyfind.com feedback is 100% positive! We do not make false promises...telling you that we guarantee the adult size of a puppy ( a scam at best as in order to back this up the origional puppy must be sent back at the buyer's cost. People who advertise this are preying on YOUR soft heart & know that in 99% of most cases people are unwilling to send the origional puppy back!). Size is something that can NOT be accurately stated reguardless of experience. Puppies have different growth patterns! A lot of people will not back up their guarantee. Read the fine print! Check with the BBB! Some of these breeders charging outrageous prices have a long list of complaints! There ARE GOOD PEOPLE and good breeders out there. A good breeder will give you a list of references & their Vet's phone number. A good breeder will welcome you to their home. A good breeder will take the time to answer questions and may ask you so many questions you get sick of it! (Hurray! They care about YOU and their puppies!). A good breeder will NOT run from problems by avoiding phone calls or refusing to email! An outrageous price does NOT mean you're getting something "extra" or even "special". Read the fine print as these places do NOT guarantee size & have the SAME guarantee as any other breeder!

4. EXTENSIVELY socialized! No sitting in a cage for our pampered babies! They are constantly handled, loved, & named immediately!
5. Shipped in BRAND NEW airline approved quality crates!
6. Up to date on basic puppy shots
7. Your puppy will have been professionally groomed SEVERAL times before leaving us! This helps tremendously in acclimating puppies to brushes and baths and scissors and hair dryers!
8. All of our puppies are slowly acclimated to their crate starting at a very young age.
9. We keep our puppies IMMACULATE. Papers are changed immediately. Food and water dishes are sterilized twice daily. Toys are washed daily.
10. Played with daily. Active play with toy objectives.
ll. Acclimated to adult dogs. My own nine dogs are there when puppies are played with & join in on occasion.

Realize that when you are buying a live animal you are taking a risk of sorts as no one can be absolutely certain that your puppy will be problem free for the entirety of it's life. A good breeder, though, will help you meet these problems head on & will do all they can to help you with advice and a true love of the baby that they placed with you.
Puppy Mills and Mass Breeding Facilities & Why They Sell Puppies at Lower Prices!
These places offer puppies at very reduced prices because they work in VOLUME and haven't a care in the world about quality much less the treatment & conditions of their adult breeding dogs. How do you feel about someone who would house HUNDREDS of dogs, usually on wire, in FILTHY conditions? When you buy these reduced price puppies you PROMOTE CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. These dogs receive little to no healthcare, are fed the cheapest feeds, and bred until they are no longer making a profit. At that time they are put to sleep, given away, and many end up in our Shelters. Can you imagine living your life in a cage, never petted, never knowing a name, never being loved? What if you had a sore or a toothache? Who would ever notice it? How would you like to be hot with no water? Cold with no heat? No hope of heat? Matted and dirty and unkept 99% of the time? Think about these things before giving into these places. Do you want a puppy whose Mom & Dad are brother and sister? Because someone ignorant "heard that inbreeding made prettier puppies"? I have actually heard these words SPOKEN TO A VET I WORKED FOR BY A PUPPY MILL OPERATOR.
The Small Hobby Breeder
People "love" their dogs & decide to breed them are one thing. People who love their dogs , and, care enough when they decide to breed them to KNOW their breed. To be ethical enough not to breed dog with known faults. To be caring enough to pull dogs (no matter how much has been invested in them) from their breeding programs when problems show up. Who spend endless dollars on health & vet care. Who consider the personality of the individual puppy when placing it (instead of seeing only dollar signs). Who pet and hold and LOVE their adult dogs & keep them FOREVER. Who raise puppies right in the middle of their home with all the endless work involved (feeding, bathing, grooming, and a zillion paper changes!). The only people I can recomend who do a better job than the small Hobby breeders are the SHOW breeders who test & go to great lengths to produce quality puppies. This is said with a grain of salt, because, many show breeders loose sight of the individual dog in search of a bit of glory. I do NOT APPROVE OF KENNELS in any situation but do know of a FEW show breeders who keep their dogs indoors and go all out. Kudos to them as they are a gift to the world and their chosen breed. If you want a pet, though, and don't plan on showing, a good Hobby breeder, in my opinion, is the place to go. Feel confident and secure that your puppy was raised in a cruelty free enviroment!
